A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a professional Graduation Degree which aids students to qualify for work as a teacher in schools.

For Science Teachers, Bachelor of Science Education is a degree awarded to students who accomplish the fthree years  course of study in the field of science (in biology, chemistry, physics, and math) with major Educational courses. After completion of 2 years B.Ed course they will be TGT(PCM) or TGT(CBZ). Coming soon.. merger of degrees in science and education courses (B.Sc + B.Ed. = B.Sc.Ed.). Even though B.Sc and B.Ed. are two different degrees, they must be done together.

There are very fewer universities that offer this course because it has a necessity of association between the Faculty/School of Science and that of Education, to assure that the teacher not only can work in an education association but also in an industrial area related to science.

B.Ed Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates need to have completed their graduation in any stream (that is, Arts, Science or Commerce) in order to fulfill B.Ed eligibility criteria. However, most popular B.Ed colleges allow candidates to take part in their admission process for B.Ed course if they have graduated with at least 50-55% aggregate marks at the UG level.

  • Age Limit: For B.Ed admissions in a majority of colleges, there is no age bar. However, the admission process of some B.Ed colleges require candidates to be a minimum of 20 years in age.

B.Ed Admission Process & Entrance Exams

B. Ed admission in a majority of colleges and universities is done on the basis of entrance exams. The pattern of popular B.Ed entrance exams is such that aspirants need to attempt questions from two or three sections. The first section tests the language proficiency and the remaining sections test the domain knowledge and reasoning aptitude of candidates. B.Ed Careers & Jobs

On completing Bachelor of Education, aspirants can become teachers at the primary, secondary and senior secondary levels in schools. In order to be hired as an Assistant Professor or Professor at the college/university level, candidates need to appear for Teacher Eligibility Tests like OTET, CTET, APTET, TSTET or UGC NET.

Candidates with a B.Ed degree can apply for jobs at all government and private schools in India.
